After discovering the first areas of Paris, and enjoying some time with my boyfriend while eating good food, it is time for new discoveries. If you haven't read the first part of my trip in the City of Lights, you can still read it here !
This second part is my favorite, filled with beautiful moments, amazing places and of course more food.
If I didn't convinced you yet to book your ticket to Paris in the last article, I have no doubt it will change after reading this. Surely if you are a fashion lover as I am.
Third day: Seeing the best view of Paris and more walking around.
The third day was, for me, the most impressive of my little city trip. That day, my boyfriend was working, so I decided to walk to the majestic Eiffel Tower.
Every day of my trip, I walked a lot, mostly along the Seine. As a young woman, I felt safer there with many other tourists rather than in the smaller streets. Many places were also closed because of the Olympics. However, it was exciting to see the Olympic setups around famous spots like Place de la Concorde. Without tickets, there wasn’t much to see, but it was still amazing to know that such a huge event was happening just meters away, with the world’s best athletes!
It was, of course, really touristy at that time, but a lot of people were everywhere around the city for the different matches and tests taking place at almost the same time. So I wasn't that much in middle of a crowd.
During my walk, I also saw the outside of the Musée d'Orsay (this is where Blair meets Louis for Gossip Girl fans). It's a famous art museum I will definitely visit the next time I have the chance. I didn't do it because walking to the Eiffel Tower was already long for that day from our hotel.
The Assemblée Nationale was decorated for the occasion with beautiful colorful statues representing different sports, with a little hint to the famous statues from mythology.
From the Pont de la Concorde, I could already see the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Pont Alexandre III. At that moment, I already felt lucky to be in such a place at that time with the Olympics. I took a couple of minutes there and enjoyed seeing people as happy as I was, taking selfies to make this memory last longer.

Around this area, you could see a lot more tourists, and more important matches or tests were happening outside in these places.
When I finally made it to the Eiffel Tower, I was impressed by the details you discover when you are standing next to it. I also found it wonderful with the huge symbols of the Olympics hanging on it. I took some time to call the family to make them live this with me, because as we say, happiness is always better when shared.
I was very hungry and had a good lunch at the Brasserie de la Tour Eiffel. I was lucky to get the last available table, and the waiter brought me a "reserved" sign so I could go to the restroom without losing my place (I found this really friendly of them). I chose pasta because it was still hot that day, and I didn't want something too heavy.
I couldn't go to the Eiffel Tower without going above. So after waiting about 30 minutes in the queue, I had my ticket for the top of it. I paid around 25-27 euros for it, with stairs and the last part with the elevator. You can also choose for elevator only of course.
I actually made it to almost the second floor, which is already 115 meters high. The funny thing is, I can go on the highest skyscraper in New York without any problem, but seeing the structure around you while going up was, at that moment, impressive with the Eiffel Tower. The second time, I would do it with the elevator, where you just go up without realizing it.
I still managed to see the most beautiful view you can have over the whole city. It was magical admiring this and knowing so much was going on below.
My boyfriend was at that moment around the Champs-Élysées (about 30 minutes walking from the Eiffel Tower). I walked there, feeling all the kilometers I had already walked that day (and the stairs). We didn't have much time together, so we just looked at the famous stores and had a drink in a little calm place.
It was then 5:30 p.m., and I decided I would walk back to the hotel to rest my feet and find the air conditioning (my best friend at that time, along with water).
After that, I ate something small in the evening and stayed in the hotel watching series. I had walked 20 kilometers in total with around 30°C outside. I was exhausted but really the happiest to have lived such a beautiful experience there.
Fourth day: all about fashion.
This was my favorite day of my Paris journey. The day before, I booked my ticket for the Yves Saint Laurent museum. It was only 10€ to have a look and access a piece of the designer's story. So I walked there from our hotel, Georgette. It was one hour walking, but if you read the first part of my trip, you know I walk a lot.
This museum features specific exhibitions of iconic pieces by Yves Saint Laurent. This time, it was about "transparencies." You could see what inspired the designer for his famous transparent models by reading about his travels in Morocco, for example. You enter a room where you see more of a brief biography and famous photos. There, you can already read that this museum was actually the first place where he began his amazing work. As a fashion fan, I was really impressed to learn that.
Then you have access to other rooms where you can see the most fantastic pieces hanging around or beautifully set on a mannequin. It was also really calm that day, so you can just take your time to look and appreciate the work.
You find yourself in a little room set up as a tiny cinema where you can watch a film about Yves Saint Laurent and the transparency theme (for this time). This is where I felt emotional because he is one of my favorite designers (and I was born on the same day as him). I just loved that museum.
You can see a real atelier as if someone is still working there. I was impressed by the details you can find. You can really see how much you need to create a dress or something else.
Then you go into another room with around 6 little TVs, each one telling a different story about a specific runway, or a famous person speaking about Yves Saint Laurent and how they worked together earlier for a photoshoot. This is the part where you feel and see the type of person he was.
Then you have a little shop where you can buy books on runways, famous photos as postcards, or the book "Letter to Yves" written by Pierre Bergé (who shared his life for years). I bought this one. And then this amazing visit was done.
I was then not far from the famous Avenue Montaigne, known for the luxury brand stores. I walked through the Rue François 1er, where you could already find the Balmain store, for example. I enjoyed my time at Avenue Montaigne, visiting the Ralph Lauren, Versace, and Jacquemus stores (I was looking for a good handbag back then). I found the stores, both outside and inside, so beautiful, whether decorated or just simple, with the amazing architecture of Paris. I went back around the Champs-Élysées and went into the Galeries Lafayette. I'm actually more a fan of the real brand stores instead of the big places with a lot of brands. But I would like to see the other Galeries Lafayette next time (the ones at Boulevard Haussman).
I went back to our hotel because I had actually already walked a lot (around 18 km that day). Then I had a meal with my boyfriend in the evening.
We loved our last Paris meal at Café Blanchet, a little further from the hotel (5 minutes walking from Georgette). They had a cute little terrace set up with TVs to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics, and it was also not too crowded, so it was perfect to enjoy it. That day, we had the chance to see an athlete from the American team who was staying across the street and gave a rose from her bouquet to everyone sitting on the terrace. This was a perfect closing for the Olympics and our trip to the City of Lights.
We went back to Belgium the next morning, but I was full with beautiful moments in mind and the urge to travel more and live more of those type of experience.
That is why now I chose to share those wonderful stories with you, te relive it, and make others live it too.
